Artist Talk: Kaitlin Santoro

Join us in the Second State Press studio on January 25th from 2pm-4pm for an Artist Talk with our 2025 CRE Fellow, Kaitlin Santoro.

Santoro’s exhibition, Hauntings, explores memory, loss, grief, and the human condition. The series incorporates interactive elements that cause images to appear and fade, mirroring the instability of memory. Drawing from personal experiences with memory loss and dementia across family lines, the work reflects how presence and absence coexist, and how remembrance is shaped through interaction, repetition, and disappearance. Hauntings reflects on the ways our histories continue to live within us, shaping our relationships and futures even as memory fades.

Kaitlin Santoro is an interdisciplinary artist who works across photography, video, glass, and printmaking. Santoro’s work has been exhibited internationally, including shows at the International Center of Photography, UrbanGlass, and the Print Center of New York. Her work has been featured in Lenscratch and the Glass Art Society Journal, among other publications. She has been awarded various residencies including at the Manhattan Graphics Center, Pilchuck Glass School, and the Oxbow School of Art. Santoro has presented at the Glass Art Society annual conference, Maine Media Workshops + College, Pilchuck Glass School, the Tyler School of Art, and Queens College. She received her BFA in Photography from the University of Connecticut and her MFA in Photography from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture. In addition to her studio practice, she is currently an Assistant Professor in the Art and Design Department at Montclair State University.
