Suminagashi: Japanese Marbling

Saturday, June 28th
2:00pm-5:00pm

$85.00

Suminagashi translates to “spilled ink” - it is the Japanese art of marbling by floating sumi ink onto the surface of water.

In this workshop, students will learn different techniques to manipulate the floating ink into different shapes and patterns. Best practices for pulling a print will also be demonstrated. Students are encouraged to experiment with layering prints as they dry.

Suminagashi is a mindful, fluid process for beginners and seasoned artists alike. It can be incorporated into existing prints or can be the base for your next work of art!

No prior art-making or printmaking experience required! All materials provided.

I’ve now built The Coven community in Philadelphia to over 5,000 members, and have regular events in every neighborhood in the city. “
