Functioning as a pop-up reading room, Parlor transforms our exhibition space into a calm, quiet oasis; a place to temporarily seek solace from the heat of the summer and spend time with our collection of artist-made zines, books, and independent publications.
Second State Press regularly receives donations of prints, zines, and books from our member base, Fob Holders, and the general public. Because of this, our collection ranges from DIY one-page xerox zines and lovingly hand-crafted books, to independent artist-run publications, technical printing guides, and surveys of contemporary art. After sixteen years of operation, Second State Press has amassed a special cross-section of materials providing tantalizing glimpses into the idiosyncratic worlds of artists, printmakers, and the history of print in Philadelphia.
We invite you to take a moment, spend time with a friend, peruse the library, and enjoy Parlor.
Parlor is open until September 27th.
