Calling all Fob Holders!!!
Second State Press invites current and previous Fob Holders to submit works to the inaugural Fob Alumni Invitational, Beyond Ritual, curated by Fob Alum Joanna Booth.
The Fob Alumni Invitational is a yearly exhibition open to all current and former SSP Fob Holders. The format is that of an open call, with a cohesive theme generated by the guest curator to prompt submissions. The purpose and goal of the Fob Alumni Invitational is to celebrate our vast Fob Holder network, build cross-generational ties and create a meaningful exhibition highlighting Fob Holder’s works and practice.
Beyond Ritual
In this mixed media exhibition, artists are invited to reflect on the potential of printmaking to act as a catalyst for the transformation of material. Printmaking, as a process, is meticulous, repetitive and time consuming, likening itself to a ritual, which becomes an ethos or a framework for other methods of making. As printmakers we are often also painters, sculptors, textile artists, and craftsmen. Beyond Ritual honors our Fob Holder Alumni whose creative journeys, grounded in the traditions of printmaking, transform ritual into a portal for exploration and innovation in new media.
Eligibility
Participation is open to all current and former SSP Fob Holders. You do not need to be located in the Philadelphia area to participate. Submitted work should actively respond to the cohesive theme generated by the guest curator. Up to two images may be submitted for review.
Medium and Size
Applicants may submit works of any medium(s), but no solely digital works will be accepted.
Maximum dimensions are (HxWxD): 40”x30”x20”.
