Beyond Ritual is a mixed media exhibition where Second State Press Fob Holder Alumni were invited to reflect on how the ritual and methodology of printmaking acts as a catalyst for the transformation of material. The diverse range of works included in this exhibition display how ritual becomes a method of reconstruction of memory, reverence, system making and metamorphosis. As printmakers we are often also painters, sculptors, textile artists, and craftsmen highlighting the expansiveness of the medium. Second State Press’s first Fob Holder Alumni Invitational, Beyond Ritual, honors our community of artists whose creative journeys, grounded in the traditions of printmaking, transform ritual into a portal for exploration and innovation in new media.
