Students will learn the entire process of stone lithography. This workshop will begin with a demonstration on how to grain a limestone to prepare it for drawing. After drawing, students will be guided through the process of chemically etching their stone. Then, students will learn how to ink their stone and operate a litho press to print an edition.
Students will also learn about the materials and tools that are unique to lithography and the historical significance of the medium.
Participants will go home with a set of black and white litho prints and an understanding of the medium.
No prior experience is necessary.
All workshop materials are provided.
