Instructor: Rae Helms

Rae Helms is an interdisciplinary print-based artist in Philadelphia whose practice explores the intersection of memory, ecology, and poetics. Their work examines the dialogue between human intervention and ecological agency, drawing inspiration from queer ecology and gestures of refusal within the built environment.

Helms received their BFA in Printmaking and BA in Art History from California State University, Chico, and an MFA in Printmaking from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Their work has been exhibited in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. Helms was the recipient of the Jennifer Tancreto Award from the Janet Turner Printmaking Museum and the graduate student fellowship from Southern Graphic Council International. Rae has presented their research at SGCI and the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present. Currently, Helms is an adjunct professor at Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
