February- Print Your Heart Out!
Saturday, February 11th from noon-2 PM
Families will work together to create Valentine’s Day themed art and cards using both screen printing and relief printing. Participants will have the opportunity to create unique art to keep or to give as a valentine to loved ones and friends. Suitable for ages 5 & up.
Instructor: Jennifer McTague
Bio: Jennifer McTague is an artist and the Co-Founding Executive Director at Second State Press. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University for printmaking and art history and her MA from New York University for visual arts administration concentrating on non-profit organizations. In the past, McTague has worked for The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Dieu Donné, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Suzanne Randolph Fine Arts, and several other non-profit arts organizations in Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY. She also teaches courses at Tyler School of Art and Philadelphia University. Her favorite print medium is screen printing.

DIY Screen print/ Monoprint Mix-up
Saturday, December 10th from noon- 2 PM
In this workshop, students will create a series of monoprints using gelli plates, exploring the possibilities of this expressive medium. Monoprinting allows for a spontaneous, painterly approach to printmaking – each print is one of a kind. In addition, students will be able to print from silkscreens and linoleum blocks which can be combined with their monoprints. Each person will walk away with a unique print that’s a combination of multiple techniques. Suitable for ages 5 & up.
Instructor: Gillian Pokalo
Bio: Gillian Pokalo is a printmaker and art educator based in the Philadelphia area. Her work combines photographic imagery with paintings and monoprints in order to create narratives of places. When she is not in the studio, she teaches Kindergarten through 6th grade art to students at Plymouth Meeting Friends School and adult printmaking classes at the Main Line Art Center. She received her BFA from Moore College of Art & Design. She shows her work in and around Philadelphia, as well as in Raahe, Finland. She is a member of InLiquid and the PA Guild of Craftsmen, and has had a piece on the set of ABC’s “Modern Family”.

Paper Flag Printing Workshop
Saturday, November 12th from noon- 2 PM
Screen print a personalized paper flag! Participants will create two flags and are invited to make their own stencil out of contact paper and also use prepared geometric imagery to print a unique flag design. Dowels and twine will also be provided to add the finishing touch.
Instructor: Ashley Limes
Bio: Ashley Limés holds a BFA in Printmaking and Art History from Temple University and has nurtured her printmaking skills with organizations such as The Print Center, Second State Press, The Fabric Workshop and Museum, The Women’s Studio Workshop, Space 1026, and her current position as a Textile Printer at Galbraith & Paul. Implementing the mediums of drawing and printmaking, her artistic practice focuses on the language of architecture and geology in order to create environments which promote a connection with ourselves and the external world.
